You deserve better than that, schmuck.
He lied to you. For your sake and your kid’s move on.
You’re better off without him.

Dear Maggy,
Since my last message additional safeguards were put in place to verify identity and make certain that only authorized users could access the account in question. It appears the matthewjdodd@therestime.com account has again been accessed, and again all safeguards and identity verification hurdles were met without any appearance of malicious activity.
It seems likely that the original creator of the account is the one who logged in, but we cannot be certain. We take security very seriously and want to be certain that all communications performed through therestime.com are both accurate and authentic.
Within our terms of service it states that “should a user with a post-mortem account allow his/her account to initiate before an end of life event, all messages will be forfeit and the user shall be barred both from the service and from all future utilization of the service.”
As such, we felt it important to complete the authenticity of this account by forwarding the final message to you. Through timestamp and md5 hashing we have determined that this final message is untouched and original to the setup. It was set to go live twenty years from now. Given that email may be replaced by then we were given the recipient’s social security number to properly locate him. As such we have learned that your son, Peter, was to be the recipient and that he is still of minor age. Given such restrictions we will forward the message to you under separate cover for final delivery.
We apologize for the inconvenience.
Sincerely,
Angela Myers

Scheduled for December 12th 2045
Dear Peter,
I know this will sound crazy, but your father, your biological father, is alive or at the very least did not die as long ago as you thought.
Before I provide further details I want you to promise me that you will not tell your mother about this. The last thing I want on earth is to cause her more pain and sorrow. I’ve done enough.
Unfortunate circumstances took me away from you. I can’t say much more than that I failed you and your mom, and the only way I could make it right was to go away. I never stopped loving you, I never stopped caring for you and that’s why I did what I did. I don’t expect you to believe me or understand, but what I did, I did for you and your mother. I hope it was for the best.
If plans go right, I’ll be showing up at the corner of Commonwealth and Prospect, three blocks from your childhood home, at 8am on January 12th, 2046(your twenty-fourth birthday). I love you, Peter. I know I missed a lot and that I don’t deserve a second chance, but I hope you’ll take the time to meet me and let me try to make up for the last twenty years.
Sincerely,
Matthew J Dodd
Your biological father
